How to display and detach multiple charts on MetaTrader 4

Once your MetaTrader 4 demo account opened, you need to go to the "Market Observation" section if it is not already on the left side of your screen.

Here are the different ways to display an MT4 trading chart:

Once you have picked it, you can drag the instrument to the center of the MT4 platform, or right-click on it and select "Chart Window". The chart corresponding to the instrument of your choice will then appear on the MT4 platform.

How to keep an eye on several charts with MT4's default options

Once you have displayed multiple MT4 trading charts, you can use the shortcut "Arrange windows as non-overlapping tiles" at the top of the MT4 platform. Once you click on this shortcut, windows automatically adjust within the MT4 forex platform.

Thanks to the MetaTrader 4 Supreme Edition tools, developed by Admiral Markets professional teams, more advanced (and free) solutions are available:

How to see more - The "Admiral Chart-in-Chart" indicator

Once placed on the MT4 trading chart, the Admiral Markets indicator generates an additional chart within the initial MT4 trading chart. Therefore, you can keep an eye on two different assets at the same time, and on the same chart.

This mini chart is easy to move within the instrument window. You can select the time frame of your choice as well as the indicators you want to be displayed.

How to detach a chart - The "Admiral Mini Chart" indicator

Finally, how to detach charts with the MetaTrader 4 Supreme Edition?

In order to detach one or more charts from the MT4 forex platform, we recommend the use of the following tool:

  • The "Admiral Mini Terminal" Expert Advisor (EA)

This EA is mainly used for:

  • A fast position opening
  • Fast and efficient position management

However, this EA also allows you to detach a trading chart from the MT4 platform. To do this, you need to click on the blue icon located in the "Mini Terminal" window to display the EA settings.

Once in the settings, all you have to do is click on "undock chart" to detach the MT4 forex trading chart. Therefore, you can move the window out of the MT4 platform, to place it on a second screen (for example) in order to keep an eye on several MT4 trading charts at the same time.

In order to replace the window within the MT4 platform, simply return to the EA settings and click on "Re-dock chart".
